An easy Nutella Frosting Recipe.
This has to be my favourite recipe for frosting, it has the most gorgeous texture, perfect consistency for piping and it tastes amazing too! What more could you want out of a cupcake topping?!
I could talk for ages about Nutella, I love using it in so many of my sweet treat recipes, such a simple, yet effective additive to any of your sweet recipes.
Here’s the recipe I use for nutella frosting, I find it usually does about 12 cupcakes.
Nutella Frosting Recipe
- 75g unsalted butter or margarine
- 250g of icing sugar
- 4 large tbsp of Nutella
- 1 tbsp of milk
- 1 tsp of vanilla essence
It’s such an easy method behind this recipe and you can’t go wrong with it.
I start by whisking up my butter to make it as light and fluffy as possible.
Simply cream butter, icing sugar, milk & vanilla essence together and then use an electric mixer to mix the nutella in – this will make the frosting light and fluffy.
If you find the mix is a bit thick you can add a drop more milk. Alternatively if it’s too soft or wet add more icing sugar.
**TOP TIP** Refrigerate your nutella frosting mix before piping this stops it getting too warm when holding the piping bag and also gives it a little time to firm slightly. 30 minutes – 1 hour is how long I usually leave it and it also allows the cakes to cool in-between, by the time you’ve cleared up all the mess from baking you’ll be ready to go!
Simple nutella frosting recipe that you won’t be able to live without.
For piping my buttercream I used the JEM 1M Nozzle.
