Fun Easter Egg Ideas

Fun Easter Egg Ideas

We have been putting together some fun Easter egg ideas and products you will love.

Find out ways to decorate your chocolate and boiled eggs.

We love chocolate eggs but even the Party Animal’s can only eat so many so we have brought you a range of savoury and sweet ideas!

Edible Silk Range Rainbow Dust

Either create your own chocolate eggs by melting down chocolate and moulding or buy them ready made and decorate.

Rainbow Dust Silk Range is perfect for giving your chocolate eggs a metallic finish! All you need to do is a pot of this magical dust and a brush. You use the brush dry and dust the metallic food colouring on your chocolate. The dust is fine and coats chocolate really easily.

Fun Easter Egg Ideas - Chocolate Eggs

In the image above it shows using the dry brush method on a chocolate Easter egg.

The colour in the picture is one of my all time favourites Metallic Ginger Glow. It’s a lovely rich dark gold. You can dust anything with this stuff. So why stop at Easter Eggs?

cake made using metallic dust

Above is a gorgeous metallic cake using Flame Frenzy and Moroccan Red in the metallic silk range. So you see, you can dust anything with it!!

Sorry I got sidetracked with the so much sparkle! Back to more fun Easter egg ideas:

See this cool tutorial on dusting the chocolate Easter eggs.

Fun Easter Egg Ideas - Boiled Eggs

Decorated Boiled Easter Eggs

Now what about some hard boiled eggs? Did you know that if you use a few drops of Colour Flo in water and put your egg in there after hard boiling it, that the egg will change colour.

Egg shell is porous and allows for the edible food colour to be absorbed. You can then take them out and use edible paints like the Paint It range to handpaint cute designs on them, just like this lovely picture above!

Now what about trying some more designs with Squires Kitchen to design your homemade Easter Eggs. To get the most from your chocolate we recommend Squires Kitchen couverture chocolate which is perfect for tempering to get the most beautiful shine. This chocolate is high quality Belgian chocolate and also happens to taste amazing!

Mixing Sugarflair Food Colours

Mixing Sugarflair Food Colours

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this one on Mixing Sugarflair Food Colours on our YouTube channel yet, it’s from about 3 years ago now but the concept remains solid! We get asked quite a lot about the shades and variations that can be produced with professional food colours. We used Sugarflair as our example brand as they are one of our best selling food colours alongside Rainbow Dust Pro-Gels.

There’s two really helpful videos we put together to show you how to get the most out of mixing sugarflair food colours to create a range of colours.

Mixing Sugarflair Paste Colours

You can do this with our Beginners Sugarflair Set!

Part 1: Mixing with Sugarflair Colours.

Part 2: Mixing with Sugarflair Colours.

We hope this helps!

Don’t forget we have loads of great discounts on Sugarflair Paste Colours all available on our online shop!

Cute Farm Yard Cake Tutorial

Check out this super Cute Farm Yard Cake Tutorial brought to you by FMM Sugarcraft.

Using the latest cutters from FMM Sugarcraft making a super cute farm yard cake couldn’t be easier. Novelty cakes are always great fun to make!

The new cute animal cutters make it so much easier to put this gorgeous cake design together without all the extra hand cutting hassle!

Cute Farm Yard Cake Tutorial

Here’s what they look like once cut. I would definitely recommend using modelling paste here. Modelling paste is firmer and therefore much easier to release from the cutters than sugarpaste. This is even more imprtant in warmer months when sugarpaste can be very sticky making it hard to handle.

Cute Farm Yard Cake Tutorial

A quick tip to make your own modelling paste is to use 1tsp of Tylo Powder to 250g of sugarpaste, mix well then seal for 6 hours whilst it has time to work. Tylo makes your sugarpaste easier to work with and also allows it to dry firmer.

Here’s a video to show you exactly how to create your fun farm yard cake.
